Vic
Ient has a broad range of business and technology management skills/experience.
He is primarily a programme/senior project manager with consultancy
skills. Technical, his industry focus has been in the Internet,
IT and telecoms industry. He has a proven track record in Business
Systems/Management Consultancy, Training, Technology Management,
Programme/Project Management and Sales/Business Development.
He started his career in 1963 as a telecoms apprentice and, once
trained, moved on to a technical and pre-sales support career;
first with GEC and then with STC/ITT, where he spent the final
5 years as a Sales Account Manager. In 1981 he moved to GTE as
a Marketing Manager and Pre-Sales Customer Technical Manager,
where he managed the successful setting up of two organisations
(for Ferranti-GTE) from scratch.
In 1984 he started his own telecoms/consultancy company, at first
providing telecoms industry advice, and then providing voice and
data installation services. In 1990 the country was heading towards
recession and he successfully sold the company. After this he
provided technical and business consultancy as a freelance consultant
working in and with organisations in various countries, including
South Africa, Hungary and the Netherlands.
He joined Ericsson in 1994 and programme managed major data network
projects for the BBC, WorldCom, one2one, BTand C&G. His role
included winning business for Ericsson's first customer-facing
Internet technology group and other data network accounts. He
also went on to set up the first enterprise-customer global support
and managed service organisation for Ericsson. In 1999 he went
on to winning and managing the first GPRS contract with Vodafone.
In 2001 Vic contracted to Danet providing consultancy in Mobile
billing mediation, network management and ISO 9000.
In 2002 He joined Damovo as a Professional Services Consultant.
He is an expert in tendering for private enterprise telecom/datacom
system contracts.
Throughout his career he has promoted the provision of top class
consultancy and professional services. He believes in
continuous improvement, teamwork and innovation.
