Pathfinder Business Coaching

Coaching is the skilful use of questioning to help people to learn, to experiment and to act to get results. It is action based and future focused. Pathfinder Business Coaching exists to help executives, business managers, entrepreneurs, free-lancers and consultants to achieve their business ambitions.

Why business coaching?
Leading companies now recognise business coaching to be the best way to develop individual skills and business capability. There is compelling, fresh evidence that coaching is the quickest and surest way to sustained business performance and personal growth. 75% of British companies say that they are using more coaching in order to help them to compete and to keep and motivate their best staff. Not having a business coach is now putting you at a serious disadvantage.

Not training, nor counselling
Coaching is neither training, nor teaching, in which skills or knowledge cascade from experts. Neither is coaching mentoring, where a person passes on their wisdom and experience. Lastly, coaching is not counselling or therapy, which help people to cope with past events. (A skilful coach may do these very sparingly to save you time, but it is not true coaching).

Future focused, action based, results oriented
Coaching focuses on your future and on actions to achieve your results as effectively and efficiently as possible to get you from where you are to where you want to be. Coaching is effective and efficient because the content and pace of coaching is entirely individual to you. You waste no time waiting for others, or catching up on things that you have missed, or dealing with others’ irrelevancies or with abstractions. Your whole time focuses on helping you to achieve your ambitions. Coaching works because you choose and describe your own goals with your coach’s support and then your coach helps you to account for your progress towards the results you seek. Coaching’s measures of success are your results and satisfaction. Success depends on your coach, your motivation and the relationship that you develop between you both.

A good coach
A good coach will be skilful in questioning and in seeing underlying patterns beneath events. They will have broad experience. A good coach will, above all else, be curious, confidential, and resourceful. A good coach will test and challenge your ideas and plans in order to improve your results and your quality of learning. They will provoke you. A good coach will make you confident and aware and will motivate you to achieve.
